Barry Green – Green Heritage Compliance and Research Pty Ltd
St Kilda Library
150 Carlisle Street
From 6:30 to 7:30pm Thu 21 May 2015
Each new archaeological excavation in Melbourne brings to life aspects of the city’s past lost to history and gone from popular memory. Join archaeologist Barry Green in a discussion of Melbourne’s archaeological heritage; how it’s protected and how it’s investigated. Recent excavations at the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind (RVIB) on St Kilda Road will be used as a case study—with discoveries ranging from an 1880’s cottage hospital to possible 1850’s ephemeral settlement on St Kilda Road and a complete World War 2 air raid trench.
Celebrating National Archaeology Week 2015.
